HOLY THURSDAY - The Day of the First Red Egg, Humility, and Inner Calm
“A Time for Washing, Prayer, and Blessing the Easter Eggs with Color”

Dear friends and followers,

Today is Holy Thursday - the day of the Last Supper, the washing of the feet, humility, prayer before the trial, and the first red egg.

This is the day when the bread of life is kneaded and the eggs are dyed - ancient symbols of life, the eternal cycle, and the Resurrection.

But for us healers, it is also a day of inner purification.

A day on which we not only wash the body and put the home in order, but also try to bring order to our souls.

Today, Jesus gives us the deepest example of love through humility - when the greatest becomes a servant to others and washes their feet.

That is why Holy Thursday reminds us that true strength is not found in dominance, but in quiet care, in service, in purity of heart, and in inner calm before the trial.

In our folk tradition, this is also a day of cleansing.
Before the sun sees us, we wash ourselves with water and herbs.

We clean the threshold, the yard, and the rooms, but most important of all is to cleanse that within us which weighs heavily, clouds the mind, and weakens the spirit.

Today nature also gives us its colors, so that we may dye the eggs - and through this ancient ritual, it is as if we are calling life back into the home once more.

The Healer’s Spiritual Message

“Today our hands are stained red - the color of life, sacrifice, and hope. But while you dye the eggs, pause for a moment and ask yourself: what is the color of your thoughts? What do you carry in your heart?

Holy Thursday is the moment to make a new covenant with yourself - to forgive your body for having neglected it for so long, and to promise it care.

True resurrection begins quietly - in that deep place within us where the spirit reaches out its hand to matter.

Service is the highest form of love.

When we care for our health, we prepare ourselves to be of help to others as well.

Let today be your spiritual washing.

Wash away resentment, wash away fatigue, wash away all that you no longer need to carry.

Prepare your temple - your body - for the great miracle.

When you clean your home today, do it with this thought:
As this home is being cleansed, so may my soul be cleansed as well.”

A Ritual Bath for Health

On Holy Thursday, water is not just water - it is a bearer of relief, purification, and renewal. Through it, we wash away the body’s fatigue, the tension in the joints, and the heaviness of the spirit.

Ingredients:
2–3 handfuls of dried walnut leaves or pine twigs

Preparation:
Boil the herbs for 20 minutes in 3–4 liters of water. Strain the decoction and add it to the bath, or use it for pouring over the body after a shower.

Effect:
Walnut leaves have a cleansing effect and are beneficial for the skin. Pine twigs bring freshness, strengthen the body, and awaken vitality.

This is the ritual washing of the day - an act through which we close an inner cycle of accumulation and open the way to lightness, health, and renewal.

Natural Dyes - Life in Colors

Instead of artificial dyes, the first eggs may be colored with natural plant-based dyes. In this way, the ritual carries not only color, but also the living strength of the earth.

For red - the color of life: red onion skins or madder root

For yellow - the color of light: turmeric

For green - the color of renewal: a strong decoction of nettle or spinach

When we touch these natural colors, we receive the power of the plants not only as medicine, but also as memory, symbol, and blessing.

The Ritual of the First Red Egg
A folk healing practice for health and vitality

In our folk tradition, the first red egg has never been merely a decoration. It is a guardian, a blessing, and a gathered prayer for the home.

Practice:
While the first red egg is still warm, touch the cheeks of the children with it, and then your own.

The warmth of the egg and the power of the red color are seen as signs of health, vitality, and the awakening of life.

Keep the first red egg before the icon throughout the year. It gathers within itself the prayer, the blessing, and the living memory of the home.

Support for the Body Before the Feast

Holy Thursday is a day of preparation not only for the spirit, but also for the body.

After the long fast, the body needs a gentle transition toward the festive table.

The Healer’s Recipe:
Make a salad of grated beetroot and carrot, seasoned with lemon juice and olive oil.

Beetroot supports the blood and the liver, while carrot brings softness and strength.

This is a simple and wise food for a day on which we prepare the body for the feast with respect and care.

Why today, exactly?

Because Holy Thursday is the day on which the purity of the temple begins with the simplest actions - with water, with hands, with bread, with the egg, with prayer, and with care for the body.

This is the day on which we remember that health is not only treatment, but also inner order.

When the home is clean, the food is prepared with love, the hands are blessed through labor, and the heart is humble - then the body receives the Light more easily.

Shared by the Healer (Phytotherapist)

“On Holy Thursday, let us remember - true purity begins with intention.

If you dye the eggs in anger, they will not bring blessing into the home.

If you wash with herbs but your thoughts are dark, the power of the ritual is weakened.

For me, nettle is one of the herbs of this day - it stings, yet it purifies; it burns, yet it awakens life.

It may be present both in food and in herbal infusions for external use, as a sign of strength, awakening, and renewal.

On Holy Thursday, I do not simply dye eggs - I touch my health through the ritual.

When I use natural dyes, I bring the living memory of the earth into my home.

May your home today carry the scent of cleanliness, warm bread, herbs, and goodness.

Sometimes that is the very first step toward healing - to restore to the home and to the body the feeling that they are loved.”

Important Notes

For the ritual bath:
If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test first with a small amount of the decoction.

For madder root:
If the herb is used internally outside the context of dyeing the eggs, it should be approached with caution. It is not used in acute inflammatory conditions of the kidneys.
